Recently, the Wildlife Rescue Center (WRC) welcomed Jose Kok, Zoological Director at Ouwehand Zoo and **European Association of Zoos and Aquaria Coordinator for Yerevan Zoo, together with a delegation from Yerevan Zoo led by Deputy Director Ashot Aslanyan. The guests were hosted by Ruben Khachatryan, Founder and Director of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), along with members of the Foundation’s team.

The visit aimed to renew and strengthen cooperation between the Wildlife Rescue Center and Yerevan Zoo, with a strong focus on aligning practices with the standards of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria. Key topics discussed included animal welfare, conservation approaches, educational programs, and research initiatives.

Yerevan Zoo is currently an EAZA candidate member and is actively working toward full membership. FPWC is an EAZA associate member, and the exchange of experience and expertise between partners plays an important role in advancing animal welfare and conservation standards in Armenia.
