Pumpkin Day with a Bear Twist: Young Creators Bring Joy to Rescued Bears

Published on 31/10/2024

When creativity meets compassion, wonderful things happen—just like our recent Pumpkin Day event at the FPWC Wildlife Rescue Centre! This time, it wasn't just about pumpkins; it was about the amazing students from Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex, who brought a whole new twist to bear enrichment.

These young minds designed and crafted unique 'toys' for our rescued bears—enrichment items creatively packed with pumpkin surprises. Enrichment activities like these are crucial for the bears' welfare, giving them the opportunity to engage in behaviors that come naturally to them, like foraging, puzzling, and exploring new scents. In the wild, bears love a good challenge, and our rescued bears are no different!

The students not only created these fantastic enrichment items but also got a chance to visit the centre and witness the bears enjoying their pumpkin-filled treats firsthand. During their visit, they learned about the importance of preserving natural behaviors in rescued animals, as well as some fascinating facts about bear life, both in the wild and in our rescue centre.

At FPWC, we believe in the power of education to inspire the next generation of wildlife advocates. Seeing young people get hands-on with projects like this—combining creativity, environmental care, and learning—is a heartwarming reminder of what we can achieve together for Armenia's wildlife.

Thank you to all the students and teachers from Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex for your enthusiasm and support! Together, we're making a positive difference for Armenia's rescued bears, one pumpkin at a time.
