FPWC’s ranger team has received IUCN WCPA International Ranger Awards

The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) Ranger Team has been awarded the 2022 IUCN WCPA International Ranger Awards by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). FPWC is the first organization not only in Armenia but also in the region, which receives such a high and prestigious award.

The awards were officially announced at the Africa Protected Area Congress, which is happening now. The prize is also monetary. this once again emphasizes the importance of the work done by the foundation.

“It is a great honor for us that the IUCN appreciated the long-term work and dedication of the foundation and its rangers. Every year, the organization selects the best teams that receive such a high and prestigious award. I am glad that the work done by the rangers of the foundation is appreciated by the international community,” -the director of the FPWC Ruben Khachatryan noted.

It should be noted that the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) deals with the problems of preserving the biodiversity of the planet Earth. It was founded in 1948. The organization has observer status of the UN General Assembly. The headquarters of the Union is located in the Swiss city of Gland. 82 states and 111 organizations are members of the Union. IUCN member organizations from Armenia are FPWC and ArAves NGO.
