The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) participated in a key regional dialogue under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), held in Yerevan from 25 to 28 November. The event, supported by the United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Armenia, brought together regional stakeholders to discuss the modernization of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and pathways toward achieving the targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
During the dialogue, FPWC presented its ongoing biodiversity conservation initiatives and environmental activities in Armenia. Particular emphasis was placed on the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR) as a successful, privately implemented conservation model, demonstrating how local ecosystems can be protected and sustainably managed while directly contributing to the GBF’s area-based conservation targets.
FPWC also introduced its role in long-term conservation action and scientific monitoring to international partners and regional delegates, highlighting the importance of evidence-based, in-situ approaches.
FPWC is expected to be named a co-implementer of Armenia’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (2026–2030), contributing to the realization of at least 10 of the 30 global GBF targets. The Foundation reaffirms its readiness to actively support the implementation of Armenia’s national biodiversity strategy and to continue working toward a resilient, nature-positive future.
