Training Workshop and Competition for Journalists

Published on 28/10/2021

Dear journalists and media representatives,

We are pleased to inform you that on November 16–17, within the framework of the 10th Arevordi International Environmental Festival, a two-day training workshop will be held for journalists and media representatives on the topic: “The Issue of Wild Animals Kept in Captivity in Armenia.” Following the workshop, a journalism competition will be announced, and the winner will receive a monetary prize.

Participation in the training workshop will provide journalists with an opportunity to specialize further in covering the issue of wild animals kept in captivity in Armenia, better understand the nature of the problem, and gain insight into its key aspects.

The workshop will take place over two days—November 16 and 17—and will include a visit to the Wildlife Rescue Center located in the Ararat region. The sessions will be conducted by various field experts, who will present existing challenges and possible solutions.

During the two-day training, participants will gain practical knowledge about the issues in the field, learn how to access reliable sources of information, and acquire essential skills in using media tools and understanding their importance.

At the end of the workshop, a journalism competition will be announced. Participants will be able to apply the knowledge gained to produce more in-depth and targeted journalistic work. Submitted individual works must be published on a media platform, demonstrate analytical understanding of the issue, include elements of investigative journalism, and reflect the author’s individual approach.

We emphasize that the ultimate goal of both the training and the competition is to increase media coverage of the issue of wild animals kept in captivity across various private areas in Armenia and to ensure broader dissemination of information, thereby raising public awareness.

The submitted works will be evaluated by a professional jury, and the winner will be awarded a monetary prize.

To participate, please send your details to press@fpwc.org or call +374 93 32 22 32. The number of participants is limited.

Detailed information about the workshop agenda will be provided to selected participants.

The training workshop is organized through the collaboration of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) and the International Animal Rescue (IAR).
