The series of course “Storytelling for a Sustainable World” have started in June. More than 100 teenagers from Urtsadzor and Shaghap communities in Ararat region and Arpi community in Vayots Dzor region are participating in these courses. Young people of 12-14 years old are taking part in the trainings involving environmental & conservation photography, citizen reporting and social media.

The weekly courses of “SunChild” eco-clubs in these three communities are both theoretical and practical. Using their skills in practice gained during the interactive courses, these young people will become the initiators of raising the awareness of their communities’ environmental problems.

A professional camera and other necessary technical means are provided to each community’s eco-club.

The courses will be followed by a contest of articles and photos. Based on the results of the articles 15 selected participants will take part in a one-week summer school in the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge Eco-Center in August.

A joint exhibition will be held at the end of the program.

During the courses the participants’ exchange visits are planned to the Yerevan “Mkhitar Sebastatsi” educational complex.

The courses are carried out by the support of the US Forest Service.

The Foundation for Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) has been initiating eco-clubs foundation in Yerevan and 9 regions of Armenia since 2006. More than 600 teenagers are already participating in the clubs. The SunChildren have shot documental films during these years and used them as an effective and attractive way of disseminating environmental information.
