The Foundation for Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets and the “Sunchild” NGO presented “The Green Mobility” project at “Mkhitar Sebastatsi” Educational complex on the eve of World Earth Day, on 21st of April. “The Green Mobility” is funded by the UNDP-GEF Small Grants Program in Armenia.

During the course-meeting the greenhouse effect, the quantitative data of harmful substances emitted into atmosphere and the harmfulness of emissions of transportation working on fossil fuel have been presented.

As a result of the burning of fossil fuels, 25 billion tons of carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere each year, it means 70 million tons per day, and 800 per second. We continually increase the amount of carbon dioxide, burning massive amounts of fossil fuels and worse the consequences.

The purpose of “The Green Mobility” is to spread the use of alternative vehicles, in particular, the electric bikes, which exclude the emissions of greenhouse gases. Due to the existence of electric battery, the electric bikes, unlike the conventional bicycles, are suitable for the frequent use on Yerevan relief and weather conditions.

The Earth Day is celebrated worldwide on April 22. The mission of this day is once again to draw the attention of humanity to the environmental problems of our planet. Everyone should think and compassionate concern for the Earth on this day. Sensible and provident use of water and energy or driving a bicycle instead of a car, are those “little things”, which the organizers of this Day are trying to inseminate in people’s behavior.
