Today, during the official reception of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), Ruben Khachatryan, the founder of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), was granted a Silver Coin Commemorating the “Caucasian Leopard Year,” on which is an image depicting the Caucasian Leopard photographed by the trap cameras placed in the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR), a privately Protected Area (PPA) by the FPWC.

In his speech addressed to Ruben Khachatryan, the Chairman of CBA, Mr. Artur Javadyan stated: “The Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia appreciates your attention and care towards the nature and wildlife, and is confident that the issued coin is also an evidence to a such attitude and efforts.”

The author of this well-known footage is FPWC’s Ranger Boris Vanyan, who shows a special commitment to the nature and his own work. Boris will be awarded the first commemorative medal, at the 9th SunChild International Environmental Festival.

It should be emphasized that the CWR has been maintained by the FPWC since Y2011, and the settlement of the Caucasian Leopard in this area is the best indicator of the effectiveness of this Privately Protected Area.
