On July 23, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) was pleased to welcome representatives from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to its Yerevan office for an engaging and productive exchange.
The visit included Mr. Oliver Avramoski, Director of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Office of IUCN, and Mr. Boris Erg, Director of the Europe Regional Office. FPWC staff had the opportunity to present the scope of the organization’s work—ranging from biodiversity conservation, animal welfare and forest landscape restoration, sustainable community development and environmental education to awareness raising activities.
During the meeting, Mr. Boris Erg shared an overview of IUCN’s global mission and structure, including how its regional offices support and collaborate with member organizations. He emphasized the value of member engagement in shaping conservation priorities and advancing shared goals across the region.
The discussion also focused on opportunities for deeper collaboration, such as FPWC’s potential involvement in IUCN commissions and knowledge networks, as well as possibilities for future joint project development and implementation.
As a proud IUCN Member, FPWC remains committed to contributing to regional and global efforts to protect biodiversity and promote nature-based solutions. Strengthening ties with IUCN is a meaningful step forward in enhancing Armenia’s role in the international conservation landscape.
We look forward to continuing this dialogue and building new avenues of cooperation in the months ahead.
