Published on 19/07/2025

The village of Gnishik in Vayots Dzor recently hosted its annual Honey Harvest Day (Megrakami Festival)—a joyful celebration of local traditions, nature, and community life. The day began with the consecration of the newly restored Saint Thaddeus Church, marking a powerful moment of cultural revival and community pride.

Local residents, guests, and leaders—including Vayots Dzor Governor Kolya Mikaelyan and Areni Mayor Husik Sahakyan—came together to honor shared values and highlight the importance of preserving both heritage and the environment. FPWC was recognized with a certificate of appreciation for its continued support to the village.

The event featured traditional food, music, dancing, and plenty of honey-based treats, bringing warmth and joy to everyone involved.

FPWC and Gnishik: A Lasting Partnership

Over the years, FPWC has worked closely with the Gnishik community, investing in:

  • LED street lighting

  • Improved water systems

  • Agricultural and irrigation equipment

In total, more than AMD 42 million has been invested in Gnishik, with additional support provided in nearby Mozrov. Across Vayots Dzor, FPWC’s rural development programs have exceeded AMD 113 million since 2018.

Gnishik is also part of the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge, where FPWC rangers protect the area’s wildlife and support local safety. Through SunChild Eco Tours, the village now welcomes eco-tourists, helping create new income opportunities while sharing its natural beauty and traditions.
