FPWC Joins the FORACCA Program to Enhance Forest Restoration in Armenia

The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), alongside other members of the Armenian Forest Alliance, is proud to announce its participation in the Forest Restoration and Climate Change Adaptation in Armenia (FORACCA) program, a 10-year initiative funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

On March 4, 2024, FPWC and three other leading environmental organizations—Armenia Tree Project, My Forest Armenia, and Shen NGO—signed a consortium agreement solidifying their commitment to collaborative action in restoring Armenia’s forests and strengthening resilience against climate change.

As part of the initial phase of FORACCA, FPWC joined a field visit to Lori on March 6, 2024, alongside representatives from Shen NGO, My Forest Armenia, and Armenia Tree Project. The visit provided an opportunity to assess reforestation projects, share expertise, and discuss strategies for sustainable forest management. The event was attended by Irina Peyer, Program Manager for the South Caucasus at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, who reaffirmed Switzerland’s support for Armenia’s environmental sustainability.

FORACCA aims to develop Armenia’s capacity for climate-resilient forest management by advancing scientific research, supporting rural communities in adopting climate-smart practices, and shaping evidence-based policies for sustainable forest governance.

FPWC has long been at the forefront of environmental conservation in Armenia, implementing large-scale reforestation initiatives, protecting biodiversity through the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge, and promoting sustainable community development. By joining FORACCA, FPWC strengthens its mission to safeguard Armenia’s forests while addressing the pressing challenges of climate change.

This collaboration represents a crucial step toward ensuring a greener and more resilient Armenia for future generations.
