The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the EcoPatrol Ranger Service of the Ministry of Environment. This milestone agreement is designed to strengthen collaborative efforts in the preservation and protection of Armenia’s state forests, forest lands, and specially protected nature areas.

FPWC’s Contribution

  • Technical Support
FPWC will share its expertise and resources to help the EcoPatrol Ranger Service become more familiar with various technical tools and their operating principles. This includes training on the effective use of advanced monitoring equipment and technologies.

  • Software Development and Data Analysis
The Foundation will develop software solutions to facilitate the collection, analysis, and management of data obtained from monitoring devices in the field. These tools will bolster the EcoPark Ranger Service’s capability to make informed, data-driven decisions.

  • Innovative Approaches
Leveraging its experience, FPWC will introduce new strategies and methodologies to enhance the overall effectiveness of forest protection and management efforts.

Key Focus Areas

  1. Combating Illegal Hunting and Logging
The cooperation aims to strengthen measures against illegal hunting and logging, safeguarding Armenia’s unique wildlife and forest resources. Enhanced surveillance and stricter enforcement will be vital components of this initiative.

  2. Preventing Forest Fires
The partnership will introduce new approaches to fire prevention, including the early detection of potential threats. Modern technological solutions provided by FPWC will enable a faster and more coordinated response to reduce fire risks.

  3. Legal and Institutional Support
The MoU also includes an examination of current legislation and institutional frameworks, with recommendations for reforms to ensure more effective and sustainable management of forests and protected areas.

By joining forces in this comprehensive manner, FPWC and the EcoPatrol Ranger Service aim to create a robust, collaborative environment where government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector work hand in hand to conserve Armenia’s natural heritage for future generations.

FPWC remains committed to protecting and restoring Armenia’s wildlife, cultural values, and biodiversity, working closely with government entities and local communities to achieve these shared goals.
