On April 26 with the efforts of AGBU Scouts of Armenia and help of thousands of volunteers the flowers laid at the Genocide Memorial on April 24 were gathered and their stems were removed.

After undergoing several stages of recycling the symbols of memory will get a second life: the stems will turn to bio-fertilizer, and the petals will make handmade recycled paper.

The “Flower Gathering” has been organized by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) since 2010.

This year the Foundation handed over the organizational part of the event to the AGBU Scouts of Armenia, who perfectly fulfilled their mission.

The stems were transported to the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR). Next spring the derived compost will be used for treatment of the CWR trees. After passing through a special recycling process the petals will become handmade recycled papers.
Every year the representatives of non-governmental, international, private and public sectors, schoolchildren, students and volunteers traditionally take part in the Flower Gathering event.
