From September 10-13, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), in partnership with the US Forest Service, proudly hosted a high-impact forest fire prevention and quick response training at FPWC’s eco-center in Urtsadzor, Vedi community.
This cutting-edge program, designed and delivered by US Forestry Service experts, aimed to equip Armenia’s key environmental and emergency response agencies with advanced skills in forest fire management. Over 40 representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Rescue Service, the State Academy of Crisis Management, the Ministry of Environment, TRAILS FOR CHANGE NGO, and rangers from FPWC’s Caucasus Wildlife Refuge participated in the intensive training.
Combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on field exercises, the course focused on adopting best practices from the US experience and tailoring them to Armenia’s unique forest ecosystems. Participants gained crucial insights and practical skills that will help improve Armenia’s capacity to prevent and respond to forest fires more effectively.
The training provided a comprehensive learning experience for attendees. FPWC is thrilled to be at the forefront of this critical initiative, building a more resilient future for Armenia’s forests and natural heritage.
Looking ahead, FPWC plans to continue these vital trainings, with a focus on targeting decision-makers in the fields of crisis management and fire prevention to ensure a more comprehensive and strategic approach to forest fire management in Armenia.
This program represents FPWC’s ongoing commitment to sustainable environmental stewardship and marks another step forward in fostering international collaboration for the protection of Armenia’s wildlife and cultural values.
