The partners of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) continue to congratulate the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR) on its 10th anniversary.

Vivek Menon, the founder of the Wildlife Trust of India, is very impressed with his visit to Armenia, he definitely wants to return and continue exploring the nature of our rich country.

I was very fortunate to visit our partners, our “World Land Partners” in Armenia five years ago. I also visited the wonderful field station that they have in Urtsadzor – eco camp area, and see firsthand the actual place, which protected for the wonderful wildlife, that area has, including – ibex, the fabulous bearded vultures nesting, lammergeiers, lovely carnivores etc. We also visited the nice places of natural beauty around Urtsadzor including – the Noravank monastery and canyon, where we saw the magnificent ibex.

This year the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge celebrates its 10th anniversary. The Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR), which encompasses around 30,000 hectares, is the first privately protected area in the South Caucasus. The CWR’s objective is the conservation of Armenia’s unique flora and fauna through the application of high technologies and contemporary management models. The pivot for biodiversity conservation in CWR is the application of international experience, skills and knowledge combined with innovative   tools and newest technologies. With the new generation trap-cameras, aside from recording species and their locations, it has made possible to capture poachers and any other illegal intruders in the area.
