<blockquote><strong>About the Festival</strong></blockquote>
<p>SunChild International Environmental Festival, established by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), is the first and the only environmental festival in the South Caucasus region. More than 780 films from 150 countries of the world were screened over the last 15 years of existence. The film festival includes various activities such as carnival marches, dozens of workshops, conferences, and exhibitions. Besides being rich in content, all events are eye-catching due to their colorful and unique approaches. The festival travels in the regions of Armenia throughout the whole year, involving a large number of children and youth, facilitating identification and creative solutions to community environmental issues by organizing thematic film screenings, discussions, and other initiatives, and encouraging and supporting taking action locally. The festival aims to bring nature, wildlife, and the environment into the focus of public attention and increase knowledge about issues among citizens and especially among children and youth.</p>
<blockquote><strong>Theme: Biodiversity: The Fabric of Life</strong></blockquote>
<p>Each year SunChild IEF highlights different environmental topics to raise awareness and become a platform for discussion. For the 12th edition of the festival, we chose Biodiversity Conservation as a central theme, and all our events will any way or another unveil the complex nature of biodiversity conservation challenges in Armenia, the South Caucasus Region, and the world. Biodiversity is the rich tapestry of life on Earth, a canvas of diverse forms and colors. Conserving it is crucial for maintaining the balance and stability of our ecosystems. But this tapestry is under threat by habitat destruction, pollution, over-exploitation, and climate change. Our responsibility is to protect vulnerable species, and habitats, and implement sustainable practices. By raising awareness, we can ensure this tapestry remains vibrant for future generations.</p>

<li>Creation of posters for all the social media platforms․</li>
<li>Festival Posters to be disseminated in the city (three different designs within the same concept).</li>

<li>Agenda (both online and printed versions) which will include film screening schedule and events.</li>

They visited the protected areas of the Caucasian Wildlife Refuge (CWR) to learn about the work of the partner Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC). The primary purpose of the visit was to discuss the problems of wildlife in Armenia and the prospects for fire prevention. With the support of the US Forest Service, since 2020, the foundation has been implementing forest fire prevention, capacity building, and technical training of forest rangers in the CWR private protected area managed by the foundation, as well as a number of public awareness campaigns and events and educational programs. Accompanied by the Director of the Foundation, Ruben Khachatryan, the partners toured the shelter, visited a nursery of native tree species, which was established in 2016 with the support of the US Forest Service, as well as learned about bear rescue, ecotourism, community development and a number of other programs. The foundation employees presented extensive information about upcoming projects to the partners. "We are glad that we are working closely with the US Forest Service, particularly in the scope of forest fire prevention. The US Forest Service is one of the leaders in the world with its long-term experience, and the exchange of that experience will enable us to fight against wildfires more effectively,"- Ruben Khachatryan noted. He added that it is very important for colleagues to get to know all the programs implemented by the Foundation. It should be noted that the prevention of forest fires is one of the important points of the policy adopted by the foundation, and a large educational campaign is already being carried out in this direction. The awards were officially announced at the Africa Protected Area Congress, which is happening now. The prize is also monetary. this once again emphasizes the importance of the work done by the foundation. "It is a great honor for us that the IUCN appreciated the long-term work and dedication of the foundation and its rangers. Every year, the organization selects the best teams that receive such a high and prestigious award. I am glad that the work done by the rangers of the foundation is appreciated by the international community," -the director of the FPWC Ruben Khachatryan noted. It should be noted that the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) deals with the problems of preserving the biodiversity of the planet Earth. It was founded in 1948. The organization has observer status of the UN General Assembly. The headquarters of the Union is located in the Swiss city of Gland. 82 states and 111 organizations are members of the Union. IUCN member organizations from Armenia are FPWC and ArAves NGO.</p>',
